Sterile Intravenous Solution

  • Product Name

    Dextrose 50%

  • Composition

    Each 1ml contains:
    Dextrose Monohydrate: 500 mg
    Excipients q.s. to 1 ml

  • Indication

    A highly concentrated sugar solution used for the treatment of the following conditions:
    - Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in horses and various animals.
    - Acetonemia or Ketosis in cows.
    - Pregnancy toxemia in sheep and goats.
    - Rapid energy supply to the body in cases of stress or illness.

  • Usage

    The solution is administered intravenously or intraperitoneally.

  • Dosage

    - Horses, cattle, and camels: 100 ml per 100 kg of body weight daily.
    - Sheep and goats: 1 ml per 1 kg of body weight daily.
    Or as directed by the veterinarian.

  • Contraindication

    - Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).
    - Severe dehydration.

  • Storage

    Store in a dark, dry place below 30°C, out of reach of children

  • Notes

    - Do not administer the solution intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
    - For horses, administration should be done intravenously only.
    - Warm the solution slightly before use during winter.
    - For intravenous infusion, use a venous catheter with a gauge no smaller than 18 G.
